Adoption & Rescue
Overview
The "Adoption & Rescue" use case standardizes pet profiles for shelters
and adoption platforms, ensuring consistency and transparency throughout
the adoption process. By utilizing NFC or QR-based pet tags, each pet’s
profile is linked to an up-to-date, accessible digital record.
How It Works
Standardized Pet Profiles
Each rescued or adoptable pet is assigned a
unique identifier linked to a detailed profile.
This profile contains:
- Pet's breed, age, and physical traits.
- Health and vaccination status.
- Personality and behavioral details.
- Adoption history and preferences (if applicable).
Pet Tagging
A QR code or NFC tag is attached to the pet's collar or
microchip. When scanned, it directs potential adopters to the pet’s
detailed profile, which can be viewed on adoption platforms or at
shelters.
Adoption Platforms Integration
Adoption organizations can integrate
OpenPetID’s standardized profiles into their websites or apps, making
it easier for potential adopters to find pets that match their
preferences.
Animal Shelters
Shelters can track each pet’s journey from intake to
adoption. This includes medical history, behavioral notes, and updates
during foster care.
